How we began

From a Saturday night out in Hong Kong to a National University of Singapore Executive MBA program.

Every good idea starts with a night out in Hong Kong, right? Well, as the story goes, my friend Nigel Perera and I, Luigi, were out one Saturday night in Hong Kong, and he says to me, "Do you have your lucky underwear on tonight?"

Perplexed about this concept, because I've got my very average and safe black ones on, he says, "No man, nights like this you got to put on your red, something bright. Makes you feel like Superman!"

While I don't remember everything that happened that night, and I'll plead the fifth, I remember that conversation.

And so started the journey of empowering men with the choices of underwear that they put on at the start of the day, any day, or particularly for any given big day, big presentation, big interview, hot date, wedding, and the list goes on.

When I interviewed over 250 men and women, I got the same answers. They were tired of the status quo of boring underwear and socks. 

I knew I was onto something. 

The fateful day came when our NUS EMBA class was challenged to start a project and sell an item online. This was the chance to give ThunderWear life.

Selling the guys on my class the idea of better fitting and boldly designed underwear, I already had customers, without actually having a product. 

Production started soon after, development continued, the dogged pursuit of better underwear for men persisted and here we are today.

Men of all shapes and sizes deserve to feel comfortable and confident in their essentials. So, we’re creating essentials that anyone can feel like lightning in. We know that’s a big task, so we are always grateful for feedback to better improve our offerings.

What is The Ballroom?

The Ballroom is ThunderWear's resting place for your most valuable assets. Separating the man from the boys, The Ballroom gives separation and space for extra comfort, all day long, especially made for those that like more breathability and space.

Sustainability, comfort, and design at our core.

While a work in progress to blend the three, it’s in our core to use responsible sources yet create impactful designs and impeccable comfort for all our products.

We know it’s not easy, but the audience that knows us best, knows it’s our ultimate goal, to keep mama nature, and our customer’s well being, in mind.

Luigi La Tona - CEO/Founder

Chelsea Guy - General Manager/Co-Founder

Meet Chelsea – the Canadian dynamo who’s redefining underwear and unapologetically living life out loud.When she's not busy shaking up the intimates industry (one pair of THUNDIES at a time), she’s wrangling her hubby, two mini-mes, and a pair of fluff-tornado labradoodles.

Know her? Of course you do. She's that magnetic force of nature who somehow ends up hosting the party of the season—whether you RSVP’d or not. She’s basically social glitter: impossible to ignore, everywhere at once, and you’ll probably find traces of her for days (but hey, she is the kind that cleans up after herself).

Chelsea’s all about fun — whether it’s jumping out of planes, dancing on tables, or casually conquering a golf course between gym sessions and a well-deserved glass of wine.

She's equal parts wild, warm, and wonderfully unstoppable.

Mirah Kamsir - Digital Marketing Associate

Hey, I’m Mirah! I’m 21 and currently running the digital marketing side of things at ThunderWear while gearing up to finish my studies soon. I enjoy creating content that connects - whether it’s reels, campaigns, or copy that makes people smile (or click). Digital marketing is where creativity meets strategy, and that’s exactly what draws me in. Let’s just say I didn’t know much about men’s underwear before, but now I’ve definitely seen it all… for work, of course. Outside of that, I’m usually at the gym, a rave, or mapping out my next travel escape. Always learning, always creating!

Fatima Lokhandwala - Digital Marketing Associate 

I'm Fatima, and i'm a creative, driven individual with a passion for storytelling, branding, as well as digital media. Having expertise in marketing and a definite eye for aesthetics, I love creating content. That content, furthermore, connects with people on a deep level and looks good. In designing social media campaigns, writing copy with engagement, or doing trend analysis, I thrive in dynamic environments for ideas coming to life. I’m curious in nature, ever excited for learning, and never afraid at trying something new—especially in the event it pushes at boundaries. I bring both energy and humour, plus a collaborative spirit, to all that I do; and I am always looking to find ways for growth and real impact.
